Pakistan and Iran Sign 12 Key Agreements to Boost Bilateral Cooperation

The agreements covered diverse areas including plant protection, plant quarantine, and the joint use of the Mirjaveh-Taftan border gate. Both countries also agreed to enhance collaboration in science, technology, and innovation to promote shared research and development goals.

 

Additional MoUs included cooperation in information technology and communications, cultural exchange, tourism, youth engagement, and mass media programs. These efforts aim to deepen mutual understanding and promote regional connectivity.

Pakistan and Iran also pledged cooperation in meteorology, climate change, maritime safety, and firefighting operations. Judicial assistance in criminal matters was also included, improving legal coordination between the two nations.

One MoU supplements a 2013 air services agreement, enhancing aviation links between the two countries. Another agreement focuses on product certification and inspection, supporting smoother trade in goods and services.

Finally, both leaders released a joint statement expressing their intent to finalize a Free Trade Agreement. This step could greatly improve economic ties between Pakistan and Iran in the coming years.
